The installation manual shows wires tieing into the "starter" wire and the "ignition switched" wire of my car. I believe my starter wire is purple (should it stay hot when the car is running?). however, I don't know where to find my ignition switched wire. Can anybody help? Its a crimestopper cs-2011rs  alarm/remote start going on an automatic 1994 GMC s-15 jimmy.

Your starter wire should only have power in the START position ONLY. Otherwise the starter will always be trying to turn over. The starter wire on your car is either PURPLE or YELLOW but you should test to make sure of wire verification. Your primary ignition wire is PINK and it will be in the ignition switch column along with all the other wires coming off the key cylinder. Here's the diagram for you:

I really having a hard time finding my starter wire. Should it only be hot through cranking. Or would it be hot when my car is on too (radio, air conditioning etc..)? Is my "ignition switched wire" the same as what you call "primary ignition wire"?

The START wire should only be hot during the crank cycle and 0 voltage when running and 0 voltage when key is in the ACCESSORY position. The switched ignition is the same as the primary ignition, I call it a primary ignition because there are many vehicles out on the road that have a primary and a secondary ignition wire.
