I have an Ultrastart 1505a remote starter in my 2004 Ford Escape that was installed in 2004.

It has worked fine up until just now. Nothing has been done to the vehicle wiring.

It will not remote start. I get 7 flashes telling me Tach lockout. If I start the vehicle with the key, click remote start button and turn off and remove the key it will keep running until I turn it off with remote. I have done a factory reset and auto tach learn but still nothing.

The only thing that has been different is that I have started the vehicle with remote start (when it was working) but used the actual key to unlock the driver's door. Would this affect the SecuriLock some how and prevent it from starting?

Change to Tach-less and see if it starts OK... But 7 flashes means it didnt learn tach... Are you getting confirmation Flashes/Chirps when it allegedly learns Tach?

Can't find the install manual for the 1505 system, but...

Insure the Blue/White Tach Input wire is still properly connected to a valid Tach source.  Verify

a good Tach signal with a DMM at the UltraStart connector.

The Tach Learn process should happen automatically with the first key start-up after a Factory Reset.

Verify that the Parking Lights ( and horn, if connected ) flash twice to signal a successful Tach Learn.

Might want to verify that the transponder bypass is still functioning properly.  Try a remote start with

a working key "inserted but not turned" in the ignition switch.

I am getting confirmation that it has learned Tach. What I did't mention is that when it tries to start the fan and lights turn on but it does not engage the starter. Also the anti-theft light blinks rapidly. No work has been done to the vehicle, it just stopped

I have only done a visual check on blue/white tach wire so far.

I did get verification on factory reset and Tach learn

I will try with key when I get home

Bypass module problem.  Check to see what type bypass was used.    Follow the WHITE/ Violet GWR wire...

Not sure if Ultrastart 1505a has tach-less feature but will check manual. Can useing tachless cause any damage to vehicle if remote is not working properly?

For the "key in" remote start test you might have to disable the bypass module ( unplug the power to it or interrupt the GWR wire ).

Don't think the earlier Ultra Starts had a Tach-Less mode...

Thanks I'll give it a try.

I tried it with the key in the off position and it did start. Not sure which bypass unit I have. I will get the model number and post it. Are they typically a straight swap or do they need programming and if so can I do it or do I need to bring it in to a shop?
