i think the wire i tried was blue/green. it was in a bundle of four or five coming out of the coil pack. the coil pack is the bundle of 6 spark plugs right in front of the motor right? maybe i can set it to signal sensing? not too sure how to do that though. hope someone can help. id really appreciate it.

The wire at the coil pack should be pink/white or tan/white for either 02 or 03. Good luck,
Mike

I stopped installing DEI remote starts 2 years ago, and now only do them occasionally. From what I have read at the forums at directechs.com a lot of people are having problems with them shutting off after a minute or two. Its been occuring with the redesigned units and new Fords.   Most people's solution is to use an injector wire for tach.

02 and 03 explorer with the v6 the tach wire is blue green, there are 2 harnesses running along the firewall. in the top on is the blue green. tech serv. says that is is different from the blue green off the coil pack, they say it is a full six cylander signal. i have done over one hundred with no problems until 04 exploer came out, that harness is no longer there

i do not like injectors... if the tach wire gets grounded it will lock the injector wide open and flood the block and cause hydra lock and blow the engine i have seen it twice. like i sid in my previous post tech service said it is a different wire. on the 04 explorer (that harness i spoke of is not there) and i tried that wire at the coil pack and it failed after a minute or so
