I asked before but no one got back to this response ...ookay I have the RED / blue wire hooked up where the parking light switch is so I know I have that hooked up for sure....and I have the wire for the tach hooked up directly to the instrument cluster going to the speedometer..all that junk...I've tried both the blue/orange wire right there and the green wire and a GREEN/ YELLOW wire...but when I start the car and push and hold the valet switch for a few seconds the parking lights are not flashing to let me know I am hooked up to a valid tach source..am I still doing something wrong about the tachometer?  My wire diagram says to hook up to the green wire in the coil in the instrument panel, but I pulled apart my center console and found a coil with yellow tape wrapped around but I believe that is for the air bag control, but I tried the green wire in it to be sure and it does nothing..someone told me to hook up to the injectors, but not sure about the location..I had trouble with my siren going off before, but I found out I am an idiot and did not have  a proper ground wire connection inside the car...sorry the long message but can anyone tell me how to freakin' fix my tach..am I hooked up to the wrong side of the car..could not hooking up any other wires like the door triggers interupt anything with that?

Hey park,

I installed a viper 550esp into my sister's 2000 nissan sentra, I had to go thru one of the injector wires to grab tach signal. Now keep in mind these are for a 2000 model not sure if it is the same for the 99 model.

  • BLACK/ RED
  • GRAY/RED
  • BLUE/RED
  • PURPLE
  •  if you have a tachometer in the gauges you can use the BLUE / ORANGE

I tried using the blue/orange wires in the tach, but I'm getting a signal with them.. for the injectors.  I found where the injectors are for my car, but did you have to trace them back to the fuse panel or somewhere in the dash or did you run the wires through the firewall directly to the engine area and cover the wires some how so the heat would not burn them up?

Just for the sake of options, the factory shop manual shows a blue/orange at the ecu. The ecu should be located behind the center of the dash. In any case, you should test your wires with a multimeter if you can. The proper tach wire will show around 2-7 volts AC and the voltage will rise with RPMs. Hopefully this will get you going. Good Luck!

okay I found the green wire coming from the ignition coil and the blue/orange wire..( the readings are right on the AC) and I'm for sure I must have the parking lights hooked up right because I am hooked up the blue/red wire at the switch in the steering column....but I am still not getting my parking lights to flash to confirm the tach...I grounded the blue wire that goes to the hood/trunk pin switch and I believe I have my door triggers hooked up right...the ignition..the LED is hooked..the antenna is hooked..is there any reason other than the parking lights or tach wire that could cause me not to get my parking lights to flash to confirm my tach
