Do you know if the Prestige alarm system has a wire on the harness that will allow you to disarm the system or impact sensor prior to remote start ? If it does not then you will need to interrupt the IGN wire or impact sensor on the alarm system so you don't trigger the system into full alarm when remote starting. Also, what remote start are you trying to install.

You may want to replace the Prestige alarm with an all in one alarm/remote starter unit. You can simply use all the alarm wiring and hook it into the newer unit. If you don't you will either have to use two remotes (one for each system) and use relays to interface the two or use a free channel on the alarm to activate the remote starter. Unfortunately, the alarm's transmitter range usually isn't all that good when this is done. If you opt for this method, you need relays to open the ignition and shock sensot triggers to the alarm while under remote start.

It's a lot less of a hassle in the long run to pull the thing out and start fresh with a combo unit, and the difference in cost is pretty small.
Look around at the pricing----you'll pay around $30-40 more for an alarm/start combo, than just a remore starter.

I'm suggesting that you buy ONE unit that is an alarm and a remote starter all in one......remove what you have, and give it to a friend, put it in another car, get a couple bucks for it on eBay or whatever.
If you want to add a remote start to the alarm you have...........first, you're looking at extra wiring just to keep the alarm from going off when the remote start kicks in.
Also, you'll have either two separate remotes to carry around, or you can do the remote start using the remote you have now....... but the range is very poor.
If you look on eBay, for example, at Audiovox/Prestige product........ a remote starter will cost you around $70, or an alarm/starter around $100. (That's assuming you have the ability to install it yourself.)
