I bought a used 99 caravan with a dei your valet remote start. I believe the model is a 551r. When the vehicle is remote started or the ignition key is turned to the start position the horn honks. How do I disable this? I have removed the horn relay and fuse but still goes off. Thank you.

that sounds like the factory alarm... does it do this if you are just trying to start the vehicle with the key?

There's no HORN output on the 551R. As evin said, if the OEM security is not bypassed properly then the horn will honk and lights will flash if it's the OEM alarm. When you remote start the vehicle, try it when you have the doors unlocked ( if you have power door locks ).

The horn does sound when I start the vehicle with the key. I did try to remote start the vehicle with the doors unlocked and it did start and the horn sounded. The van does have power door locks but it is a pretty standard van otherwise. Thanks for helping.
