As long as the unit does what you want it to do you can use different brands intergrated together using the best of what certain companies produce. For example, best alarm brain module with best motion sensor manufacturer, the best relay manufacturer, and loudest siren made. It just depends on if you want to keep the products the same name or not. It is about the same thing in any electronic system. Like computers internal components. If you build it from scratch and choose 3-d graphic cards for their speed and intensity of image, and sound cards based on what quality of audio and how many outputs you can have.
