I just had a Auto Mate AM6.2 stater put in my Honda Ridgeline. I think they have the locks hooked up wrong. Can someone help me out?
Once the truck starts and the parking lights come on, the doors unlock. If I hold in the button on the remote starter remote for 3 seconds, it locks the doors! After that, you can't unlock the truck at all unless you use the key or shut the truck off with the starter remote. It should be the other way and UNLOCK the doors when you hold the button on the remote for 3 seconds. Can anyone help please? Thanks!!

Lock and unlock wires off RS are reversed. I have done a few of these just in the past few weeks. I would say you can do it yourself but if you had it done by somewhere, they should fix it at no charge since they messed up.
At the shop I work at we only hook up the unlock. We don't hook up the lock because the vehicle still will need the oem remote for lock and unlock while the vehicle is sitting and not running. Normally some cars while the ignition is on, shut down the oem keyless feature where the AM 6.2 would be running the ignition system. That is why we only need the unlock feature. On vehicles with oem alarms we wire the factory disarm to the correct wire. It depends on the vehicle.
The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.

What do you mean by "off RS"?  You've installed the Auto Mate, installed Starters in a Ridgeline or both in the past few weeks?  Do you know the wire colors and what should be hooked up to what?  So do you know if the Auto Mate AM6.2 is a good model?  When I got it the day they installed it, I only had about a 150 foot range.  They swapped the antenna out today for a different model antenna and I had at least 500 feet and that was with NO line of sight at all.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have installed the AM 6.2 unit which is the "RS". I have installed in many new Honda models like the Accord hybrid 2008, 2007 Civic, and 2007 CRV. They are similar since they are all Honda built. I have not done a Ridgeline yet, the dealerships who we do work for have been selling more CRV's, Accord, and Civic models.
The wire for unlock is blue off the module. In your Honda Rideline, if it is a 2006 to 2007 the color will be PINK/BLUE (-) DRIVERS DASH AT FUSE/RELAY BOX. That is the factory wire color for unlock.
You should have about 1000 to 1500 feet range with that unit. If the antenna is not mounted vertically up and down below the tint of windshield, the tint in windshield will cause range problems. If it is too close to roof or hidden in headliner, range will be a problem. If the antenna wire is tightly wound up under dash that may affect function as well. I normally loop antenna wire in about a 3 to 4 inch round loop and tape or cable tie it together.
The remote has a battery but if it is a new unit that should not be a problem.

I'm gonna call them tomorrow about the locks.  Thanks for the info!  If I get time over the weekend, I might look into it myself.  I could have probably put the starter in myself, but just didn't want to bother.

As for the antenna, the original one was about the size of my thumb and it was mounted all the way in the upper left corner of the windshield.  The new one they put in today is an actual antenna, probably about 6" to 8" ridgid wire (sort of like the old fashion cell phone car antennas).  It's mounted in the upper left corner of the windshild and extends across the windshield.  It's in the tint area of the glass.

Thanks again for the info and quick reply!  Let me know if you have any thoughts on their antenna mount job.

Antenna should be near or under rear view mirror so it is in the center of vehicle. That way it actually uses the surrounding surface as a base to receive. Not in a corner, not sideways.
I have been installing since 1993, always have put antenna in center of windshield and at below tint at top strip of windshield.
