Hi,

I just got a Kenwood KVT-911 DVD player and was wondering if the parking brake bypass is the same process as those listed before (switch between unit & parking brake) or if there's something else that needs to be done.

It's the same as the Panasonic and Alpine's.

question the kenwood 911 dvd is as the same as the alpine . in my experience the alpines are the most tedeous because there is a whole process to engage the video in these system involing the brake and a toggle switch . no other monitor etc is like that. what i thought is that all you have to do is ground the parking brake wire on the back of the 911 dvd velocity please calrify i dont have to much experience with kenwood . but i work at a shop that sells kenwood and would like to just know.

Should have clarified myself better. The Kenwood is the same as the Panasonic, Alpine, Pioneer's, etc in the fact that you have a safety wire that needs to see ground in order for the video to be operational. You are correct Jon, that Alpine has an extra step that the other's do not ( foot brake bypass & sequence steps ) that ensure that the video is not readily turned on by simply flicking a switch ( but still can be done with such a method ). All the Kenwood needs is a GROUND signal going to the GREEN wire and the video is operational while driving ( the same as the other companies where GROUND is required in order for the bypass to operate...except Alpine where you will also need the foot brake to see a momentary 12+ signal ).
