Hey I am in the middle of doing a very complex fiberglass box with an amp rack to hold 2 amps then glass ontop of that that is to hold 2 15's. I have done all the fleece and its pretty thick but its really rough and there are pretty big spots i need to be alot further out. Would it be alright to use a whole gallon of either fiberglass bodyfiller or reg car body filler as long as i get about 10 layer of fiberglass after doing that? Ive heard about it making the finish crack and all but if all the bodyfill is under the fiberglass that cant happen right?
thanks

i like to finish the glass first then use some reinforced bodyfiller, IMO that reinforced body filler is damn strong, how much further out are you talking? also is this a baffle or just a covering for everything? I dont think i would ever put glass then filler then glass but who knows maybe some people do...? If i was doing a box and had to extend a side or something i think i would put some cardboard on the backside and foil or something the glass a few layer, then remove the backing and put the rest of the layers...

That sounds good but with using the Bodyfiller I think i would be able to shape it better with the filler. Does neone see why this wouldnt work? Which would u suggest the bondo fiberglass filler or body filler?

I didnt think about that. But can u get it at homedepot because i would rather just use bodyfiller if i have to order the foam. Has anyone ever bought expanding foam at homedepot? I have seen like cans, would those work?

that should work. You might want to test a small sample to see if the resin eats the foam.

The stuff at Home Depot with the resin from Home Depot doesn't work very well. The foam gets eaten away by the resin. Bondo and then fiberglass again would not work well because fiberglass does not hold as well to Bondo as Bondo does to Fiberglass. I would build off of the existing fiberglass with mesh (chicken wire) or MDF, or something like that and fiberglass it again and then do a thin coat of body filler.
