i recently added an amp to my tundra and i get noise w/ the engine running. the power wire is connected directly to the battery. the truck may have a factory amp, if i was running through the factory amp and the new amp, could this be my problem? i was thinking a filter might help, but not sure. anyone got any ideas on causes or remedies?

Could be one of 20 different things. Check these first:

make sure that the power and RCA wires are not close to each other. Run them on opposite sides of the vehicle if possible
make sure that your ground is clean, free of grease and that the connection is solid to metal
make sure that the amp gain is not set too high. If it is close to MAX, turn it back down to about 2/3 of full
make sure that the ground wire is less than 36 " in length from the amp
