2000 Pontiac Grand AM-power problems

Hey guys,

Check this out. This is what I have:

4-year old Kenwood Cd player

MTX AMP (425 W max) 2 chan.

2 - Pioneer Premier 10" subs

I personally installed the CD player (maybe that's the prob) and all my stuff worked fine. Later on 1 year later or so in my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am the amp started flickering on and off, also my internal lights flickered with this. Both the battery and the alternator are fine. At first I thought it was just the amp cause the rest of the channels sounded fine. Amp passed the test with flying colors. Later on I just plugged it all back up (amp )and it worked fine, strangely enough. Then the problem kicked in again 2 days later. Fuses fine. I just don't know why it would flicker.

1. Does this happen with a terrible ground connection?

2. Also today my friend tried plugging his cd player up to my connection to the car to see if the problem was a cd player issue. Problem was he didn't think that the color coding is/or could be different for each player or maker. Something probably friend, because there was a smoke smell coming from the car. He would fess up to telling me if he fried one of his older cd players. But I plugged in my previous cd player back and now no power comes to the player. What do you think he fried?

2. If he did fry something what do you think it could it be?

It might. Check the area where your amp is grounded. Make sure the screw that you used to screw the ground wire to the vehicles chassis is tight and that the area where it is screwed into is clean(try to scrape away any paint where you have the screw and make sure it is clean. Try this and post back

I'll need to try that. However right now I'm stuck with problem 2. I tried using a DMM on my car to see what problems I have with the power to the deck. I can't get anything, the fuses for the radio are good too. What do you think I can do about this? It's possible I could just rewire the power, and ground. How do you recommend manually wiring the positive ignition wire?  Is there any other places I can check on my car other than the fuse box to see if there's something wrong with my cars power plug?

Alright, So I'm retarded. There was an extra fuse panel in the car that I've never opened and I found the broken fuse. Radio works fine now. Only problem is.... I re-checked the grounding and positive cable to the amp and it's a clean tight job. However, when the remote line from the CD player kicks the amp on (usually) it starts the whole flickering issue in the car. Interior lights, headlights, all electrical seems to flicker. I recently had the battery replaced and the alternator is fine. Does this sound like some sort of other fuse in the car? What do you think?
