I just bought 2 4 ohm dual voice coil subs.Can i wire them to the kicker kx600.1 amp and get 600 watts times 1 at 2 ohms? thanks

No. Your amp is mono. You can present it with an 8 ohm, a 4 ohm or a 1 ohm load. You need DVC 8 ohm drivers, wire them all in parallel. This will present a two ohm load for your amp.

ok well see i havent got the amp yet.I am still trying to decide on that. Could i power my subs buy the kicker kx800.4 amp? it says that it makes 400watts times 2 at 4 ohms when it is bridged, thanks.

No, a dual 4-ohm woofer can only be wired for 8-ohms or for 2-ohms each. So on each channel of a stereo amp you can present either an 8-ohm or a 2-ohm load. Two of them can only be wired for 16 ohms, 4-ohms, or 1-ohm total load.

I suggest you wire them for a total 4-ohm load (which is called series-parallel and is the BEST way in general to use two 4-ohm DVC woofers.) You then want either a mono amp rated for the correct power into 4-ohms, or a stereo amp rated for the correct bridged power into 4-ohms. Do not use a 4-channel amp for subs (you can do this, of course, but it is not the best solution, and in your case you would have to wire for an 8-ohm load on each bridged set.)

ok so would you recommend a kx600.1 which i would only get 300 watts out of it or get like a kx1200.1 and get 600 watts out of it? and why would ppl want to get 4ohm subs if it cant be wired at 2ohms meaning im going to have to get an amp twice the size to get the equal amount of watts. By the way i have 2 8 inch kicker L7 subs which have 900 watts rms together.

Damping is better, distortion is lower, heat is less, efficiency is better... all the good things about high impedance loads. There are MANY reasons to NOT run an amp at one ohm - just because you can.

alrite so what size amp should i get? Ive heard that the kicler L7 are power hungry.
