So here I was taking the day off from work I went to my local Shop where they are an offical Memphis Dealer

So Im looking at all the equipment and on every box I see made in Korea, now I thought they made everything stateside, thus the price they charge for thier equipment
I also happended to noticed that there were no serials numbers on the boxes nor any of the equipment only the Warranty cards had the Serial numbers, anyone but me find this odd?

So when I got home I took out my memphis amp and looked, no serial number on it, nor on the box  "Yes I save all my boxes"  Anyone have any thoughts on this, something is starting to smell fishy

I have seen conterfit equipment before. And I would think that serial #s are useless unless they are on the product itself. Contact Memphis and see.

Korea these days builds pretty much everything related to car audio. There is some good stuff, some stellar stuff, some OK stuff and some absolute bloody crap as well. Memphis fits somewhere in the mix above the latter.

So in the good to stellar range huh.. I'll agree with that, im just concerned about the serial numbers not being on the box or equipment, now granted after I took my amp apart I found it, but you would think a small sticker on the outside of the box isnt going to cost much

Your thoughts on the serials?

A lot of well-respected companies sell equipment made in Korea these days, including Xtant, Zapco, Eclipse, Memphis, JBL,  etc. etc. etc.  Over the last 15 years Korea has become a world-class manufacturing center.

That being said, I believe the high-end Memphis line is manufactured in the USA, but I could be wrong.

As with Zapco, the Reference line and the Competition line are made in the US, but as a marketing technique and to try to keep up with the industry, the lower line I-Force are made overseas, They are a relatively cheaper amplifier, but pack a nice little punch with them, though not the typical SQ of the higher line Zapco equipment.

DYohn, I think you are correct in saying the higher end Memphis is manufactured in the US, unless they have transferred over in the last couple years, I ahve installed some older equipment that was infact labeled "Made in USA"
