I recently installed and amplifier Planet audio amp PC225HC, and one Kicker L7 Dual two ohm.

I installed it in my 2004 BMW 525i, I used an audiocontrol LC8 to get inputs for the amp.

I have the woofer wired at 1 ohm.

The problem im having is the amp gets hot and goes into protection.  I know im not exceeding the ohm load because my amp is good to .5ohm.  Can anyone help me on what my problem might be?

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

sounds like the amp cant handle 1ohm and is going into protection mode so you dont completely kill it.

segovia: Even if the amp is rated to run that low, that doesn't mean it can handle the heat. Running at lower impedence means that the amp will be losing more and more power to heat. The only possible help would be if you have the amp mounted upside down or don't have enough room around it to allow for air circulation it needs. If something like that isn't the case, you're amp can't take the heat of 1 ohm operation.

...and then there's what killer said. Can't see anything like that at Planet Audio.
