Amp Install

if you are running a component set you will have to rewire regardless...however, if you are just going to power a set of co-axs or factory speakers, you could use the factory wiring if you really wanted to...personally, I never do...if I were to reuse the factory wiring however, I would probably splice into it right before it goes into the door (if thats where the speakers are) or into the dash...I dont think it really matters where you splice into it, just as long as its done properly (butt connector or soldered and heatshrinked) with no chance of contact...personally I would shy away from splicing into the factory wiring because if you sell the car and want your stuff back, it just creates more work and more splices to put everything back to factory...

when I convert from deck power to amp power, I usually crimp butt connectors on to the deck's speaker outputs and leave the other end of the butt connector open...and since the factory wires will not see any power, I usually just leave them after I cable tie them all together...
