Hello.

I am very interested in what standards the manufacturers of vehicle security and alarm systems design thier products to meet. Can someone in this forum tell me the names and numbers of the industry standards?

Thank you.

Thanks

Don't know about the US but over here there is a Cat l standard, mainly about self protection certain standards apply, stealth installation, all joints must be soldered to 15bs pul strength, trunk door and hood switches mandatory, 2 imobiliser cuts with all black cables, battery back up siren with heavier brackets, armoured casings, all black power and 2 x ground leads in separate locations etc. etc .In the US the product coming from the reputable manufacturers, eg DEI, Compustar, Audiovox/Code etc. are as a rule better engineered than the vehicle's own electrics.

Sorry to any better products I've not mentioned and I still feel that nothing comes close to the Clifford Eagle from 15 years ago or their G4 product, they were bulletprooof.

Howie... my GOD man... if the installer in the states "had to" follow all of these guidelines, there would be fewer installer doing a lame job installing crap!    HEY.... I got an idea!
