I recently "installed" a Scytek 4000RS with a Canmax400 in a 2010 Prius. I have installed hundreds of remote starters, but this one has kicked my ***. The Canmax will light up the X, showing it has been sucessfully programmed. And when I hit the remote start button, the parklights flash, then come on, the can max flashes the green X  indicating it has been wired correctly, but the car will not start. The dash does not even illuminate. You can hear the relays click in the remote start, but nothing happens. alarm works fine, door locks, etc, all thru the canmax. Just will not start the car. Any ideas?

did you meter the wires of the remote start to make sure the all have power when they are suppose to?

i verified all wires with multi-meter for voltage or continuity between the cars molex connectors & the canmax connectors. I have verified the connections on the can hi & low, and the tx & rx are good using the continuity tone.
There is a +12 volt output on both the pink in the 20 pin and the pink in the 12 pin when the cars start button is pressed. This also sends +12 volts to the remote start / alarm unit, as I am able to enter program mode, valet, etc. However, when the remote starter is engaged, there is no 12 volt output to the pink wires.
I have +12 volts at the remote starters start output. All alarm functions work properly - door trigger, door locks, flashing lights, etc. but it will not start the vehicle. The canmax has verified programming & operation using the X that lights up. I can hear the remote start units relays kicking in when engaged.
Since there is no physical hook up to the cars ign wire, I assume the canmax does this thru the rx/tx & /or can hi & low?
the unit is installed in W2W mode. I have not changed features from default.
I did not attach the (-) handbrake status wire, as the remote starter I am using does not have that connection.
The brake status wire has no voltage on it when pressing the vehicles brake. I assume that is handled internally by the canmax as wel

make sure that the remote starters ignition output (same as ignition input on the instructions)is sending 12v to the bypass so the bypass see voltage on the 12 input (11:Pink: (+) Ignition Input on the 12 pin)
if it does not having voltage on that wire when remote starting then check the fuses in the main harness of the remote starter.

so the xprtess kit diagram is wrong? According to page 7 of the manual, the pink wire (#8) in the 20 pin (listed as an output) & (#11) in the 12 pin connector (listed as an input) of the Canmax goes to the + IGN input of the remote starter. It actually is supposed to go to the output of the remote starter & not the input?

 I do not have any IGN output from the remote starter hooked to anything, as the notes say "Do not connect any other accessories, ignition or start wires from the remote starter to the vehicle. The interace is handling the required vehicle power & start sequence from the push-to-start button circuit"

the ignition input is the for an alarm, is the same as an ignition output of a alarm/remote starter in most cases.
this connection is not on the vehicle it is on the bypass
the bypass will have to see the ignition of the remote start, before it will start the vehicle

The IGN output of the remote starter is from a relay, so it wouldnt act as an input because it is normally open. So basically, I need to hook both the ign input to the brain of the remote starter & the IGN output from the remote starter side (its a combo unit) to the canmax?

most remote starter/alarm combos use the remote starter output as the ignition input for the alarm.
unless you have one that has the satellite outputs for remote starter like older vipers did?

Yes, there are specific outputs for IGN1, IGN2, ACC, etc. that are 12 gauge wire, and a specific 16 gauge input wire for IGN (for programming & to ensure the impact sensor is over-ridden during remote start)

then i would say that 20 pin harness pin 8 pink ignition output of the bypass go to the 16 gauge ignition input of remote starter/alarm
then the 12 pin harness pin 11 pink ignition input of bypass goes to the ignition one of remote starter output. (make sure its positive.)
