viper 5701 on 2002 nissan altima

I am installing this alarm/remote start on a 02 altima. This is the third install i do on this car, the first one was a cheap alarm/remote, last one was a valet 561r, and now this one which is giving me problems, the previous ones didn't. To start off i wired up a relay for the second starter which was working with the first two installs. There are two problems i am having, the first one is after connecting the red, RED / white, and RED / black heavy gauge wires (H3), it gives the accessory wire and the starter wire (violet) constant 12v, which obviously is not good because when i turn the key to the ignition (before start) the car cranks to turn on, and the accessories like the radio stays on with the car off. The next thing i did was disconnect the RED / black (H3) wire so that the starter wire and accessory don't receive constant 12v and that allows the car to start properly with the key. When i attempted to remote start it wouldn't engage and the unit clicked 8 times which is the shut down diagnostic for neutral safety shutdown but my neutral safety wire is properly grounded and i actually cut the switch off and connected both wires directly to each other. I am having trouble figuring out why this is happening, keep in mind that this is a factory refurbished Viper 5701 alarm/remote start. I want to get some input before assuming the product is defective. Thanks in advance!

Shouldn't need a relay for the second starter. Use the H3/7 Pink/White and change that wire to starter2. It comes defaulted as Ignition 2. Menu 3, Item 8, Option 3.When all else fails, Read the Instructions

Yea i thought about that but the reason i left the relay for the 2nd starter there was because i wanted to use the pink/white for the second accessory, if the second accessory is not needed i will use it for the starter but is that going to fix the problem with the accessory wires and starter wire getting constant 12 volts?

Disconnect the red, RED / white and RED / black (simply remove the fuses) and see if you still have continuity with the pink, orange etc. If so it's a faulty unit.

The Neutral Safety switch input (BLACK/ white) on the 5 pin connector needs to go to a good ground. Not to a cut-off Neutral Safety switch (toggle switch).  I would suggest restoring the toggle switch and grounding the BLACK/ white wire.

I set up a 5701 on a test bench and using a DMM from the RED / Black to the Orange you should not have any continuity. Like wise, from the RED / Black to the Violet, no continuity.  If you have continunity I would think the unit is defective.

When doing a remote start, the brain should make a "tick-tock" sound, then two almost simultaneously clicks, and then one more click. (sounds are to the best description I could come up with).

During the remote start attempt, you should have continunity between the RED / Black and the Orange during the first set of clicks, and continunity between thr RED / Black and the Violet on the last click.

Only you can determine if the unit may be defective or not.  Get out the DMM and test.  Good Luck

Thanks a lot for the input. My neutral safety switch is connected directly to ground and not a toggle switch. i will test for continuity this weekend when i work on the car again and post the results. Thanks again for the help.

Just worked on the car and tested for continuity. i disconnected the RED / black, orange, and violet wires to test the. Between the RED / black and orange there was no continuity, but between the RED / black and violet there was continuity. But when i disconnected the red wire 12v (H1/2) i didn't get continuity between the RED / black and violet. The unit is getting shipped back hopefully they send a replacement.
