Hood pin switch not setting off alarm

My doors and trunk are setting off the alarm. The pin switch for the hood is not setting the alarm off though. I did replace the pin switch and remounted it in the middle of the hood near the firewall.

My original pin switch was held on by a metal plate and then attached to the car. Right now the switch is mounted on plastic. Should I use a metal plate to mount the switch?

Yes, the hood pin switch has to see ground ( metal ) when it is in the up position.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to ground it tommorrow and take some pics of the location where I have it mounted. Would you be able to help me with this question?
