Info Needed - FM-5000 unit

 Vehicle is 1997 Sebring Convertible. Alarm appears to be a Baretta FM-5000 system as pictured here..

 Remote looks similiar and brain looks identical to system installed in vehicle; horn looks somewhat different. I suspect system is identical to Commando FM-5000 system - replacement remote looks identical.

 Difference between Baretta remote and Commando remote is the words 'FM two-way' in upper left corner of display. I would assume that remotes are interchangeable.

 Vehicle/system has intermittant problems; remote start works intermittantly, alarm fails to set on occasion and needs to be cycled to arm. Reaching under the dash and shaking system wiring sometimes causes remote start to work.

Pulled interior apart today to inspect install. Found 'spit and twist', power wiring extended with speaker wire, some connections made with what appear to be crimped wire nuts (crimp caps?), one fuse holder appears that the ATC style fuse contained inside has melted and has green colored plastic running out of it, and my personal favorite, numerous connections where the 'spit and twist' is taped over, then a 'tie wrap' is tightly installed over connection.

 What I'm looking for in owners manual/install manual for unit, clarification on whether the Baretta and Commando systems are the same, and any other helpful hints/suggestions.

 Thanks for the responses... already had the 5005 manual, but was hoping someone knew where there was a 5000 owners and install on the web. When the system was working correctly, it worked pretty well. I suspect that once I correctly connect all the wiring (for me, 'correctly' means soldered & heatshrinked) that the system will work correctly again.

 If anything, I was surprised at the quality of the install.. if it was an owner install, then I'm surprised that they did at least part of it right.. if it was a pro install, then I'd like to know where it was done so I could stay away from them.. (not that I let anyone do anything to my cars anyway..<grin>)
