I just half installed a car alarm on a 97 grand am for my sister. Everything is connected except for the valet switch and the trunk release.
Here are the problems, I can open the door with the alarm primed and the siren doesnt sound, and the shock sensor just plain doesnt work.
The keyless entry, LED, starter kill, and panic button (siren) work fine though.
The only shabby wiring deals with the positive door trigger being spliced into the petal light, is this a problem since it doesnt turn off immediately after all the doors close? (doors close X second delay light fades out)
Where is the oem keyless mod? (supposedly contains my trunk release) (although the latch/trigger seem to be a cable system)

Without knowing more about what system your using its hard to say whats going on. Some lower end alarm systems will not monitor the door triggers if it thinks the door is open when you arm the system (lighting delay). Also, not sure what you mean by the positive door trigger being spliced into the pedal light? Already doesnt sound good....

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

wow

first of all, that car has a negative door trigger in both kick panels, and they have to be diode isolated.  if you are using an alarm, there is no reason to go near the brake pedal.  maybe the parking lights which can be found in the steering wheel harness or the switch.

as far as shock, what do you have it mounted to, and are you letting the alarm arm for about 10~15 sec first?  you have to zip tie that little guy to a very sturdy factory wire harness and make it tight.

Well, the alarm and shock sensor are zipped tied to the steering column. The door locks are at the driver side kick panels, and the parking lamps are in the steering column harness.
My wiring diagram didnt have a door trigger wire listed so I just went with that light. Once Im going to put off the shock sensor problem untill I get everything else in order. The car alarm is a Commando 520-S
Im currently trying to get a free wiring diagram from the car alarm company. (they offer this service just need my order number and part sku) All I really need to know is the color of the door trigger wire. If a professional with the info could step up with this info I would greatly appreciate it.
