I have a 96 yukon that I put an alarm w/RS on but the RS won't work.  Everything is connected minus the hood switch and negative safety switch.  It is a viper 560xv.  I can start it with the key no problem, and the alarm works fine.  If I ground out the starter trigger on the remote start ribbon it cranks up.  When I try to use the remote it does nothing.  I don't hear the relay click either.  Any ideas?

Have you grounded the BLACK/ white nuetral safety switch wire, must be grounded to be able to remote start the truck? Does your truck have an immobilizer? Why are you messing with the ribbon cable, don't do this?

Grounded the neutral safety and tried the remote start, didn't work.  Is the tach wire a necessity?  I understood that it will check voltage if the tach wire is not connected, but don't exactly know as I am a newb.  I only grounded the starter trigger to see if it would start (got the idea from willTS).   I also reconnected it as soon as I was done testing it.  Wouldn't that mean that it is connected right?  I mean that the starter should start as far as the relay is concerned.  I was told it doesn't have an immobilizer, but once again not completely sure.(man I sound dumb!)  It has keyless entry but that's all I'm sure of.

Does it crank and die or not crank at all? Do you hear any clicking at all when you try to remote start it? Try this, ground the WHITE/ blue wire for one second and see if it remote starts. It will not go to voltage check if you don't connect the wire, you have to change this in the programming.

I didn't ground it until it started completely, it cranked but I never let it start completely.  Don't know why i did that, but I've been fighting this thing for a week and a half.  I tried grounding the blu/wht wire twice to mimic two - pulses, but I'll try grounding it for a full sec.  Now that you mention the programming thing, I saw that in the manual (duh!)  Also, no clicking when I press the remote start button at all.  I'll post as soon as I try the blu/wht wire and try to program to check voltage.

Tried the blu/wht and nothing.  I also set the programming to check voltage.  All did zero, no clicking either.  I couldn't try to ground the starter trigger again, won't be able to until tomorrow.

Have you got the tach wire hook up? If not doing the tach have you program it for non-tach?
Have the alarm LEARNED THE TACH?
Have you change ANY of the programing?
Got all the ING and ACC wire hook up?

No tach wire, but no change to the programming either.  All the wires ingnition wires from the RS relay are hooked up.  If I take the RS trigger and ground it, it cranks over.  It just won't with the remote.

But on the Techsoft that is not listed but does have a disarm defeat. passanger door boot a tan wire, that "color" is the same as the unlock motor. not sure if its the same.
since you have not went into program mode do that and go to remote start part and then to tach part set it to "volatge"
Also how is the "activaction pulse count" do u have it set for.
