Does any one know the procedure to get in to the alarm configuration. I want to change some of the default settings for the alarm and I cannot find the instructions anywhere.

Thanks,

Bill

its the menu settings, its a PITA kinda without a bitwritter. you have to like open the driver door, turn the ignition on then off then press the valet button as many times as the menu you want to go to like press it once then press again and hold for menu 2 then it will chirp then you need to select the option that you want under that menu like sub command 8 so you would press the valet switch 7 times and hold it the 8th and then press lock/unlock or what ever to whatever you want the setting to change to. its in the manual though.

press the valet button the number of times you want, then hold it.  press ch2. on the remote to move the setting to the right hand side of the chart.  thats what it says in the book.... so how is it "but it does not have any inforamtion about changing the settings"?

The alarm was installed at a shop and they only gave me the user manual. The user manual only tells you how to operate the alarm and what the functions are not how to change any of the default settings. When I asked the installer for the instructions to change some of the default settings they said they do not give that information to the customer and I would have to come back to them if I needed any settings changed. Is that normal practice? Again I want to thank everybody for the information you have given me.

BTW... if the installer programmed it with a bitwriter he/she may have locked programming, in this case you will be unable to change anything without using another bitwriter to unlock programming.....

it's a feature DEI came up with to prevent customers from p***ing around with things AFTER the install.....

If there are multiple settings for a feature, say the remote start is set to 12 minutes by default and the other 2 options are 24 min and 60 min would you press the unlock button 2 times to set it to 60min?

you need the installation guide, not the users guide. thats why you cant find any info.

The installer did not give me the installer guide and when I asked for it they said they do not give those to the customers. I have no idea why.

well from one point of view it makes perfect sense....it eliminates the customer changing a bunch of features or locking out the transmitter and then wanting the dealer to troubleshoot things for free or having to replace the remote etc.

also Bill   with the program switch you can only select a run time of 12, 24 or 60 minutes... with a bitwriter this is selectable by the minute from 1-60 ... i programmed mine to 16 minutes

they should have gone through what features etc you wanted BEFORE the install...if they didnt i'd take it back...if they did and you have simply changed your mind then...........
