No Crank? No start?

Hey,

I recently purchased a remote starter/alarm combo, and tried an install on it, I double checked all wires, everything was correct, I even took it to an installer and got him to look over it, and he said everything was fine. Here is my problem, the car will not start when i try to remote start. It wont do anything, it just sits there and doesnt do anything, no lights, no nothing. Even when I try to do the tach learning, it doesnt do anything....no beeps nothing. The installer said I needed a new brain, but before I go out and buy that, I would like to see if I can fix the one I have......is it just possible that I am doing the tach learning wrong? and that it doesnt learn the rpm so it wont even crank? I had the installer try to set all the codes, and it didnt seem to work for him either.....all it says for tach learning is to put handbrake up, neutral gear, turn car on (start engine), wait for RPM to settle, then hold remote start button......is this all I need to do? Or do i have to do the code learning thing to, where I turn the ignition on and off a few times, then enter code learning mode.....im so lost

First of, does the alarm/keyless entry work? If so you dont need a new brain. What did you hook up the neutral safety switch wire up to? If you didnt hook this up to anything theres your problem. That wire has to see a ground in order to remote start the car. What make, model, and year is you car? Are you sure you have the right Tach wire? Even if you didnt the car would at least try to start..

I seem to be having the same problem but it is with an 02 impala. everything works but the remote start. As the idiot that I am, I noticed that there was a third ign wire for this vehicle that I did not connect to. Could this be the reason?  It is a prestge APS-786. I have installed plenty of these in the past and never came across this problem.

Did you make sure to have the netural safety switch wire hooked up, it has to see ground before RS. Also if you hooked up the hoodpin is it installed correctely,is the hood opened, if the hoodpin see ground the RS wont even crank. Even if you dont have the tach programmed it should crank n attempt to start, somethimes it does start without tach being programmed but will die a few seconds after RS. On some alarms you need the door open to get into programming menus, IE dei alarms, sometimes on the new cars the current from the door pin is very low. The low current can trigger the alarm but is not strong enough for programming. Try opening all doors when programming or just simply cut the negative door trigger wire n connect directly to ground for programming then put it back after your done. And next time when your posting for help try to be more descriptive IE alarm model, car make n model etc. Well hopefully that helps .

There is the BROWN accessory wire that must be powered as an accessory wire. If powered as an 2nd ignition the car will not crank. You will have 2 IGN and 2 ACC wires in total for the Impala:

Thanks for the help. Will try on sunday to see what I screwed up. Also to get to the BCM on this car someone told me to go through the driver side fuse panel. Is this correct or do you know a better way?
