Hi everyone, I'm new to 12volt, I'm getting ready to put a viper 791vx into my 2000 silverado. Any help would be greatly appreciated, but my first question is, Do I need the 556U bypass and how does that work? Thanks very much

No you will use the 555L or the 555T.

You can also use a code alarm plxr which is super easy to use and program and it doesn't require that you cut the passlock wiring at the steering column.

use the 555L or GMBP... the PLXR is defaulted for Ion's ( which means you'll have to reprogram it, whereas the GMBP is defaulted for Passlock II  )and the 555T has been discontinued ( for a couple of years now )
