remote starter intallation in a 2000 ranger

Almost all wires are accessible at the dash... no real need to have the wires go through the firewall. Here is a wiring diagram for the Ford :

Notes:

NOTE:  This vehicle is equipped with PATS (Passive Anti Theft System).  http://www.velocitymotorsport.com/security/ford_transponder.htm.  *1 These wires can also be found in the drivers kick panel in the large harness to the rear only if equipped with factory security.  *2 Use yellow/black for the drivers door found in the drivers door harness, and gray/red for the passenger door (and rear on the 4dr models) found in the passenger door harness.  Diode isolate each wire. See direct fax document # 1076 for wiring information. There is a single wire available on models with factory security.  It is lt. blue/white negative trigger found in the drivers kick in the large harness to the rear.   *3 The ignition coil is located near the center of the motor on all models. Can also get tach behind the instrument cluster, the wire is tan / YELLOW.  *4 Under the hood at the top of the firewall towards the passenger side. Can also get vss behind the instrument cluster.
