I'm installing a coolant heater that I want to operate by remote. Here's what I'd like to do:
1. From 2-button remote, click on to send a 100mA signal (constant on) to the heater.
2. Click off to turn off this signal, shutting off the heater.
3. I would prefer to use the same button on the remote for on-off. That leaves me the other one to power another heater in the truck (cabin).
So, all I need is a remote and a receiver to generate the signals.
Any help appreciated.

OMEGA made or makes a REC 43-T: 2 Button

Can be programmed for timed output adjustable from .2 to 30 seconds
Also, Latched Output, or for as long as U hold the Transmitter Button

Also MICRO makes a 12 Channel 4 Button..........

OK, looks like the Omega is the one, with latched output if I use separate on/off buttons. And it's cheap!
I sure would love to use one button for on/off so some sort of external flip-flop circuit may be in order.
Now I see what I should be searching for. Thanks.

Go into AutoZone where they have all the fancy lighted toggle switches.
I think it's the Pilot brand (they make fog lights), for either $25 or $40 (I forget), I think they have what you want.
It's a four-button remote, and a little receiver with four sets of outputs. When you push each button, it turns that particular output on or off.
This unit doesn't have a windshield-mount antenna like a remote starter----don't expect 1000 feet of range----probably 30 feet or so.
Consider mounting LED(s) atop your dash, so that from outside the car, you can tell if your accessory is on or off.

Hey Art, you said you're in Boston---what part? I'm a professional installer in Melrose. Let me know if you need a hand or if you get stuck on anything.

Hey Chris,
I'm in Jamaica Plain. Your name is very familiar. Are you into Land Rovers by chance? Where are you?
I'll check out the Autozone thing. Thirty feet may not cut it, though.
