Just wired my new remote starter in using the alternator sensing option, I had it learn the remote, lock/unlock works fine, but when i go to start it flashes three times and then EIGHT times...there's nothing on the error table for 8 flashes.
Also, I can't seem to get into the programming menus, it'll seem like it gets to menu three, then flash 3 times and exit programming mode.
Weird huh? Ideas?

The car is a 1999 Nissan Altima, and the remote start unit is model CM4200A-V.5D if that makes a difference.

Make sure that your hood in down when remote starting ( ensuring that the GRAY/BLACK wire does not have a ground on it ) and also if this is a automatic vehicle, you have to cut the jumper wire inside the unit for automatic vehicles.

The hood wire isn't even connected right now while i'm diagnosing, so i know that's not the problem. What jumper wire? Why wouldn't it come exactly as it's supposed to if the sticker on the unit says "Automatic"?

It's because the the way it's marketed and the shop or store that's selling it is suppose to check to make sure of this. Regardless, pull back the trap door on the top of the CPU and you will see a small green wire , make sure that it's cut for automatic vehicles.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WOW.
Yep, started up first try no problem!!! THANKS!
You don't happen to know which wire on the security module I need to ground for Driver's Priority unlock do you? :) That's the only thing left for me to figure out.
Wow. Wow. I spent all night last night retracing wires and cursing.

And if you've got a sec... I can't seem to get into the programming menus...
I hold down the top two buttons of a (recognized) remote, parking lights flash once (correct), flash once for each time I press button 4 up to three times, then it flashes 3 times and exits programming mode. I cannot enter programming mode 2 or use the remote to reset programming defaults. Suggestions?

FYI for all you 1999 Nissan Altima drivers...
On the security module, you'll need to wire up some relays to make priority opening work. Here's the condition and result of the wires:
Drivers Unlock = RED / Blue (-), Yellow (+)
Drivers Lock = RED / Blue (+), Yellow (-)
This can be done with a DPST or two SPST relays.
Can ANYBODY tell me why I can't get into the Compustar menus so I can turn on the second pulse???

I must just have a bad unit :( After all that, i had it working (except the menu part) and I was putting all the panels back, press start, it works! but then shut off after a few seconds.   Try again, it starts! But shuts off again. And now it "seems" like the unit isn't even getting power, it's just dead. But all the wires are live and correct, no fuses are blown...
Strange thing, though...the time BEFORE the time it died on its own, there was a chime that dinged after the parking lights flashed. That had never happened before, but from the sound of the manual, it should have.
Bum unit?

Re-read the programming instructions. I don't think your doing it right. To access programming options 2, you have to press a different combination of buttons than option 1.
