Hello

I am trying to install a vampire car starter into a 1996 landrover. I have made all the connections except for the power doors locks. The vehicle will start with the remote starter when unlocked. As soon as I lock the truck and try to use the remote to start the alarm goes off. I have looked on this site and it told me to hook my factory disable to a blue and green wire on the drivers kick. I have tried this and it has not worked I am wondering If i have the right wire? It says that it should be in a 14 pin conector but the only conector that I could find is a 12 pin with on spare hole. I also do not know on how to wire the remote door locks in It says it is a single wire system and I dont know what that means.

Please help

Todd

I've got this info from my database, give it a try. Dont forget to test your wires with a meter, preferably.

Lock (switch)

18ga. Yellow N.C. to N.O. will lock doors, cut and pass through relay terminals 87a and 30

Unlock (switch)

Same wire (-) will unlock doors

Driver Unlock

Arm (key)

18ga. Blue or Blue/Red (-) when doors are being locked

Disarm (key)

Same wire (-), must be pulsed at the same time the doors unlock or the alarm will not disarm

Arm Input

Hello

I am sorry to say this but these two replies are in greek to me I am very new to this and I do not understand.

Jeff what do you mean when you say must see doors unlock to disarm?

secureauto what does yellow N.C or N.O mean the other number I assume you are talking about a relay? Arm key and disarm key what is that? Do I hook up my factory alarm shut off wire to this blue wire?

Sorry for all the questions feeling quite small in the world of installing

Hello

I have a single wire door lock system for my 1996 landrover discovery. I am trying to finish off a vampire r/s but I don't know how to hook up the door locks. The r/s works fine when the doors are locked but as soon as i lock the doors and try using the r/s the horn starts to honk and the r/s will not work. I have posted in the car security board and was told about a relay for the door locks. I am very new to this so please be very simple explaining this to me. What does N.C. and N.O. mean?

If you have wiring dia grams please send I have been getting yellow/pink for door locks and GREEN/ blue for factory alarm disarm is this right?

Lost in the wires

The wire colors that you have are right for the locks and the factory disarm. The disarm wire must get a (-) signal from the alarm.  When you talk about relays you have contacts.  These are the parts that are switched in order to turn things on and off.  A relay is a device that lets you use a low current circuit to control a high current circuit.  There are five pins on a spdt(single pole double throw relay) pins 85 and 86 are the coil pins.  Pin 30 is a common pin to 87 and 87a.  What I mean by common is that pin 30 will have continuity with pin 87 or 87a depending on the state of the relay.  Think of the coil as a light bulb. You can power the coil (either side) with a positive on one side and a negitive on the other. When the coil "sees" 12 volts across the coil it acts like a magnetic switch and swicthes the contacts to the oppisite state.  When we say N.C or N. O that is how  the contact rests with no voltage on the coil.  When the relay is at rest, between pins 87 and 30 is a N.O. contact.  Between 87a and 30 is a N.C. contact.  When the coil is energized the N.C becomes open and theN.O becomes closed.  When you de energize the relay the contacts go back to there "normal" positions.    You can see how this could control many things.  Take a look at the relay section of this page to learn more.  Brian

Hello

Thanx for the info on the relays I have been cruzin through this site info overload. It is pretty hard to understand when you are a new guy to this field.

Does any one have a wiring diagram to make my doorlocks work with the r/s? I looked at this site for wiring diagrams for my truck and it has told me that I have a single wire lock/unlock system. I have looked on this site for single wire info and it is vehicle specific. I f somone could tell me how to wire these relays  so i can use the r/s to lock and unlock my doors that would be great.

I have found a GREEN/ blue for factory disarm and the yellow/pink for the doorlocks. now i just need to know how to make this thing work.

I have a vampire r/s is this thing anygood?

Thanx

Todd

The info that I have on your locks is to use a relay.   pin 86 will go to your (-) lock output on the alarm.Pin 85 will go to a 12 volt constant source.  You need to cut the lock / unlock wire and put the switch side on pin 87a.  The motor side will go to pin 30 along with your (-)unlock wire from the alarm.  Make sure this is doubled checked by someone on this site before you use it. I  am still learning too.  Brian

You make it seem that i need to have the vehicle unlocked before my r/s will function is this what you mean?

Can you provide me with a relay wiring diagram or talk me through puting the wires on the relay what number is for 12+ what number is for the yellow wire what number for the unlock from r/s ect.

Velocity

I have noticed you have provided several diagrams to others pleas elaborate on your last post
