When I bought my 95' Toyota camere station wagon I had a factory installed Viper alarm system put in. Last week something happened. It kept going off and it drained my battery. I know it's been eleven years but it has worked great all that time. Does anyone know if after time this is a common occurrence? Do alarms just short out like this? Is there an easy fix?
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Bill,
I don't have much knowledge in the alarm systems and i myself just bought an omega car alarm and i'm installing it with my friend who installed a viper alarm 4-5 years ago on his mercury van. Wierd thing happened a month ago - his alarm just went crazy and pretty much completely stopped working. after that all he did was to reset and then reprogram the brain and now it works fine again. so if your alarm just started going crazy all of a sudden you might want to look for the viper's manual and reprogram the system or have somebody do it for you if you don't know how.
Hope this helps,
Svilen
P.S. also you might want to check your shock sensor, if you have one, because it might have gone bad and just be setting of the alarm all the time.

Thanks Svilen - Yes I'm going to bring it in tomorrow to a dealer and see what they say. I had Toyota disconnect it for now so it doesn't drain my new battery.
