Had to put one of these bad boys in a range rover the other day.  As we all know, you can't watch movies after the car goes over 10 miles/hour.  What i had to do was make the Avic think the car wasn't moving.  Now let me say this, if you don't feel comfortable doing what i tell you.......DON'T TRY IT.  I dought you want to mess up a $1900 unit. First i placed a switch on the vss wire, and hooked it up.  Next I took apart the brain, and cut the two contacts from the plug on the GPS antenna(inside the brain.......going to the curcit board).  Next I soidered a relay inbetween each contact(two total).  Next i wired them both to open and close on a switch(if you don't know how to do that, then i dought you should be trying this).  I put the brain back together and mounted the relays on the outer case.  I placed the switchs in a pocket right below the Avic.  Now when you start to move you can flip both of them at the same time and the gps gyro no long knows the car is moving.  YOU CAN WATCH A MOIVE!!!!!!!   When you want GPS again you can just flip them back.  If you have any comments feel free to add.

P.S.  Your pioneer Warranty WILL BE VOID Once you open the brain!!!

P.S.S.  Do not cut the GPS antenna wire, the wire is a set length that is impedence matched to the gps gyro in the brain!!!!!!!

heres the real fix:   buy an N1.
I think people are attacking this bypass problem from the wrong angle. Modifying the software would be a much cleaner way to bypass the saftey. Now all we need is a couple willing CS EE/CE majors with a DL DVD burner to get to work.

Update:   Finished the car today.......i went and hooked all three switchs together(barking brake, vss wire, gps antenna) two just one.  now with a flip of a switch you can watch a moive.  Just let the person know that owns the car that when they flip it back to gps it will take 10-30 sec for the gps to know where the car is, but after the you are good to go.

Did you use 2 relays on each side of the wire you cut? also what kind of relay did you use?

FYI the N2 SUCKS! I'm not sure but I'm gunna go out on a limb and say pioneer SUCKS. If you have ever had a Clarion head unit, DO NOT go with Pioneer. The sound just isn't the same and I'm on my 2nd sirius module for it and this one is bad already. And what's up with the nav not telling which direction to at a juntion? If I knew where the "F" I was I wouldn't be using navigation!!! Maybe a Pioneer vaccum would be something to buy. Or a pioneer electronic inflatable doll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     My Zapco cpmponents are imbarassed to be in my car with this Pioneer piece-o-crap!!!!!! And chances are if you think you are talented enough to drive while watching movies, you are really just stupid.

$@&% Pioneer    (or something like that)

Thanks 12 Volt for giving us a place to vent.

If I were your doors I would be embarassed to have Zapco componets in them. Sorry, I had to jab back.
In case you didn't read my post to your other rant I will put it here also. Pioneer is not making the Sirius receiver, DEI is. So your problem is with DEI, not Pioneer.
