extending cigarette lighter

i have a 95 maxima i cut the cigarettes lighter connector about an inch back so i could have some wire left at the connector part i extended the wires about a foot but when i put a car charger into the cigarettes light plug it blows my fuse the stock wire is like 22awg but i use 14 awg to extend it from the stock wire. where the stock wire meets the 14 awg wire i used male to female butt connectors due to the fact that if i want to remove my center console it has to be able to unplug, whats causing it to draw more amps?Jinx

Either you connected the 2 wires on the wrong terminal, or the device you are plugging into it has a problem.

Check the socket itself...You could just wrap the wires around the cigarette adapter plug and see if it still blows the fuse...Meaning wrap the 12v lead around the tip and the ground lead around the tabs on the side of the plug... I Have seen even new replacement plugs ...That the center tab(12v) moves over and makes contact with the sides(ground) on the inside of the plug...So basically the 2 leads you extended off the cig plug...Disconnect it from whatever you added...Wrap the 12v lead to the tip...the ground lead the tabs on each side...And see if it still blows the fuse...Oh and BTW... fuse it...!           (i think this is hard to understand...but hey...Had a couple sips...Family get together...!)M.E.C.P & First-Class

He said it blows the fuse when he plugs the car charger in.  It is either wired backwards or the car charger is defective.

Yes and a Panasonic charger plug jammed the back of my cig lighter such that every time the element went in it blow a fuse. Could I suggest trying something in there like the actual lighter element just to see whether it's physical or electric load.
