what i want to know if i have a speaker that is 350 watts rms so they wont distort how much power over what is rated do i need to make them hit there hardest

Any speaker regardless of rms watts can distort. A speaker reproduces what it is given, feed it distortion with an amp that is rated at 100 watts, you get distortion, even though the speaker can handle more. Distortion will affect a smaller speaker like a tweeter way way quicker than a sub. A sub can dissipate much more heat that is associated to distortion before damage will be done. Mr. Clean is bang on with his reply, alot of factors determine what happens to a speaker, but no matter what, if you run an amp out of power, this equals smelly speaker. A vehicle has a red line, above it bad things usually happen to an engine, even thought the speedometer says it can go quicker, the same thing is true for a speaker.Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

LMAO . . . Apparently, I have rattled yours quite well !!! This is coming from the guy who told another member to simply string along a few unspecified resistors, with no wattage rating. Given the very fact that the current was not known in the circuit. If you insist upon jacking threads and going out of your way to belittle me . . .
