Hello guys. I'm in need of some help here.

I've got a 98 Lexus Gs 400 and I was going  to replace the crappy deck with a new DVD unit and I had a friend cut the old unit out.

Well, when he cut it out he cut through the constant, remote and ground all at once and shorted something out.Now there is no constant behind the dash, the dome light is out and the remote on the key doesnt work.

I have looked long and hard for a blown fuse  and cant seem to find one.I metered every fuse I can find both in the kick panel and under the hood and all the fuses look good.

My only thought is that there is a control unit somewhere that might be blown.

Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any Ideas huh, first off tar and feather your quote unquote friend. I would suggest actually pulling all the fuses and checking them visually one by one. If that doesnt resolve your problem then run a new power and ignition line for the deck off the sterring column. I cant believe this guy did that to your poor lexus. Just for my own curiousity,  why wouldnt you get this system profesionally installed, esspecialy since a lexus is an expensive car to make a mistake on.

Yeah ravendarat is right. Check EVERY fuse. It shouldn't be that bad of a problem.
Tell the Snap-On guy I'm not here!

Ive got a fairly extensive backround in car audio. This one just had me miffed.

I just found the problem though. Not only is there a fuse box under the hood and in the drivers side kick panel but there is also one inside the passenger kick panel.Sure enough the culprit was a blown fuse.

This is the first import i've ever owned so I wasnt sure about it, but all roads pointed to a blown fuse, I just couldnt find it and wouldnt dare think there would be a third fuse box.

Oh well, live and learn.

Yeah many cars today have multiple fuse boxes (mine has three,  but it made it easy to hook up my amp for a signal turn on).  Oh and yeah go beat your "friend" with a rubber chicken and hog tie him and drag him over cacti (multiple cactus) with his mouth over a greyhound bus (isn't Ron White great?)
