I am wondering why my 4x4 on demand touch button system will not engage the 4 wheel drive on my 1992 Ford Explorer?
Can anyone give me any ideas of what to test or connections that might need to be checked or in general what the problem maybe. Thank you

There is a solenoind on the xfer case (i think) thats usually what causes these probs... if I remember they are a real pain to get at... It's been a while though... pushbutton 4x4 sucks.... give me a twin stick atlas anyday...

thank you for the insight and info. I have this bad feeling it's the solenoid that's bad. Got a new switch and tested everything today. Seems to be that greater of two evils which is much more expensive. Again thank you

there may be a solenoid control module on that truck, I know the newer ones have them. I'd hate to see you get a solenoid and that still not be it. check it out

I tell it like it is...
