I just layed down foil and tape and set down a solid layer of fiberglass chop mat, its completely dry and hard, yet still has some flex, how many layers of chop mat should i use? Also, when I've added another layer of chopmat, should I go out every few hours and lay down a coat of resin? I've read over 4 sites and got somewhat of an idea. I just dont wanna mess this up. Any information would be reallllly helpful. I can post pics later.

resin without fiberglass mat/cloth doesnt add any strength. i dont think a little flex in the floor layer will hurt anything depending on what your design is for the top piece. good luck

What is better to use for the box...the chop mat or the cloth stuff? The people at shucks didn't even know they stocked it, lol.

chop mat is way better than cloth or fleece but it is much more exspensive.

I think you have that backwards. Fiberglass cloth is more expensive than mat.
You're going to want quite a few layers for that enclosure. You can bulk it up with a layer of Coremat in between your layers of chop mat. US Composites has that for $8.75 a yard. Cheaper and quicker than multiple layers of mat but also tougher to work with.

Fleece?  I think he means to reinforce the shaped mold...

How many layers should i use? I've layed down 2-3 layers of mat. Its pretty hard. I have the shell of the tire well, just the bottom part. I think the 3 layers is good, but I want a second opinion, it needs to be able to support the basss from a Kicker 15" L5 with a 750W RMS D class amp going to it.

The basement may not be the best place to do your fiberglassing. They're going to find you passed out in a pile of resin and glass fibers. Not a good look. Find a well ventilated area (go outside).
