I'm making a box for a buddy but he isn't sure what subs he's going to run yet. So I was wondering if there is a "universal" size or measurement for mdf sub rings? I'm looking for 10 and 12 inch sub ring measurements. Thanks.

There isn't a universal size per say since subs have different setups even if they are measured the same.

For example, JL's W3's (12 inches for example) have a 11" mounting hole whereas the the W7 have a 10" mounting hole.

For most subs, in my experience, 9" holes and 11" holes will fit the most subs. Again it may not be the best size for all subs.

Yeah I knew there was no one size that would work for every sub. I'm just looking for a ballpark number. Something that would work more often then not. Thank you.

Then the general measurement is 1" less than the sub's stated size (9" hole for 10"sub, etc). This will fit most subs at their respective measurements.
