Okay gurus here's the deal I am attempting to wire aux reverse lights with dual input triggers and i'm a bit stumped. My truck has oem swtiches with 15 amp outputs powered with ignition on. I want to run the Aux back up lights off these to use when the truck is in park, drive, or netural at my desgression (loading trailers or the boat at night or lighting up the woods when out 4 wheelin).  I would also like them to always light up when in reverse since I keep forgetting to turn them off when using them to back up. Currently they are just on the 15a switch and I use it when in reverse and I always forget to cut them back off. My theroy is two relays but I am wondering if I am going to get any back feed which I do not want. The swtich is lighted and I dont want it to light up when they are in use triggered by the reverse lights.

Your thoughts?

Loop the 30's and connect to the (+) of the lights

Loop the 87's and connect to the Battery (+)

Loop the 86's and connect to Chassis (-)

Relay 1 - 85 to the output of the 15a switch

Relay 2 - 85 to the Switched (+) output from my oem reverse lights

Anyone see any issues or advise on this set up? Or any reasons it should backfeed the input triggers?

ONE relay, feed from OEM and new switch via 1 x 1N4004 diode in each wire, bands towards the relay to 86, ground 85 fused at 15amps to 87,
output to lights from 30.

Hi,
You'll need 4 1N4004 or equivalent diodes, as suggested above.
Locate the following wires at the upfitter switches or the upfitter relay box; violet / YELLOW, violet/light green, gray/red, and gray/orange.
Each diode needs to be connected with the band towards each wire. All of the non-banded ends connect together and connect to the reverse wire. The reverse wire (BLACK/ pink) is on the backside of the dash fuse box. Wire is in eight position connector, four of them being used, towards the end opposite the main power input. Fuse box is easily removable..four 10mm headed screws.

Forgot to mention that the reverse light trigger will need to be just that a trigger and not a power source. They are currently installed using the upfitter switch as the power source. However when I first installed them I started with the reverse lights as the power source and got about 25% of brightness from the aux lights. They failed to add any assistance when powered from this source. I will mention that I pulled power from about two inches from the bulb not the BLACK/ pink in the fuse box if that makes a differance. If possable I would like to make the connection there at the bulb since it's already got a T Tap and a bit of wire in place and capped off for later use  =-)

Scratch the last post after drawing a diagram (My brain is visual) of the advise I get it both wires as triggers with diodes to 86. I've never used Diodes been out of the car audio world for many years where can I buy these? I'm assuming most car audio shops will have them? Any other places?

Ween could you go into a bit more detail of why you're using 4x 1N4004 and Howie is only using 2? I'll only be using one of the Upfitter switches...

Is this what we are thinking is correct?

Yes,

That's what we're thinking...somewhat.  How many lights/ pairs of lights are you adding to the rear?  Are you using the upfitter switches for anything presently?  If just one pair, then an upfitter switch that is fused at 30A would be more than adequate.  You'll still be using diodes.
