I would like to know if I can create a fading courtesy light when you close the door

yea you could what is the current rquirement of the light?

what do you mean? how many amps it uses, or what am i using the light for?

i mean how much current draw (measured in Amps) how many watts is the bulb? the quick and dirty method would be a capacitor but most likely a large value cap would be needed and it would really be a waste of money for the cap... i was thinking to use a small value cap to discharge through a transistor and limit current slowly until finally turning off.

tryed messing arround on a simulation s/w its a 5W bulb and the SW says 417, I could use a capacitor but it only works on a LED (2 sec to fade), but for some reason the transistor keeps blowing upFading Lights -- posted image.
