97 pontiac sunfire wiring info.

My radio wiring coming directly from the car were cut. I bought this part.. http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=71-1858 and I'm trying to rewire the plug back on. Constant 12V+     Orange Switched 12V+      Yellow Ground              Black Illumination      Gray Dimmer              Brown Antenna Trigger Pink Left Front (+)      Tan Left Front (-)      Gray Right Front (+) Light Green Right Front (-) Dark Green Left Rear (+)      Brown Left Rear (-)      Yellow Right Rear (+)      Dark Blue Right Rear (-)      Light Blue I've done this all exactly as it says. Conveniently, there are 2- yellow wires, 2- brown wires and 2-gray wires. I have switched and switched back and done every possible connection I can think of. From there, I then wired up a cd player. I can get it to come on but there is no sound whatsoever. I have checked and rechecked the wiring. I blew one fuse(the interior light) during the install but all the other fuses look fine. During the install some of the wires touched and the speakers in the back made a loud static sound. Did I blow the speakers? Any help would be much appreciated.

cross referance your wires with the wiring chart i just gave you. Also make sure your speakers arent toast. Take a 1.5v battery and for pu tthe negative from speaker to negative on battery and postive to pos. touch the wires to the battery and hear or look for a crackling sound. That will ensure the speakers still work and function.

Everything looks the same. Tried the battery test with a definite crackling sound. I really wanted to get this done by myself. Thanks for you help.

no sound at all. It's a brand new unit. It came with a remote and I've tried muting and un-muting and turning the volume up and down. Still nothing.

Drum Roll please.. Here comes the man I'm dumb speech! My first step should have been to change that fuse. You probably thought I was smart enough to have already done that..but nope. Apparently that fuse that said it was for the interior light also had something to do with the speakers..changed it and now everything is working! Thanks so much for the help!

gee, never heard of interior fuse being connected somhow with the speakers unless there is a factory amp which i dont see in any of my wiring charts. well nice to know you got it working .
