I went to install an aftermarket stereo today in my 2003 Lancer, but got really confused when none of the wires were making logical sense. I searched as many forums as I could find to get answers to this question, but found none until I found this site. However, there isn't any info about 2003 lancer audio, is it the same as the galant?

Are you using a wiring harness if you are it should be pretty straight forward. If your not I would highly recremend getting one. You can pick on up at any car audio shop/big box store/walmart for roughly $20. It will make your installation a lot nicer and easier.

Okay thanks I'll look into it further. The harness I was talking about was the existing one, and i hadn't thought about a harness to replace the one that doesn't fit on my replacement stereo.

what do you mean doesnt make sense, if your not using a wire harness, are you using the correct speaker wires/ign wires, that car also has the possibilty of a factory amplifier and in that case, theyres no way you gonna get it going using your galant tactics...

should be standard colors

+                        -

yellow/red   greay/ red FR

yello/blue   gray/blue FL

WHITE/ red     BLACK/ blue RR

WHITE/ blue    black blue  RL

Acc usually solid blue and 12+ is usually RED / black

these are standard colors for mitsu, but they are always changing for newer cars..
