I have a 12" Alpine Type-R and a Kenwood KAC-8104D amp. With a 4 gauge wiring kit and 80 AGU fuse. Do I have do match the fuse on the amp and the fuse for the wiring kit? My amp has a 40 fuse. The fuse inside the fuse holder (80 agu fuse) is a little damaged, one of the metal cap on the fuse is really loose to the point if I pull it, it will separate for the glass part. And looks kind of burnt inside one of the caps Both ends of the fuse suppose to touch the metal right? Well both ends can get loose and sometimes when I put them together, I see a sparks inside the fuse, that is when my amp works. But as soon I play my music loud, it stops working. I know its something wrong with the fuse or the fuse folder. Please help me.

Get rid of the Gold Fuse. You will be much better off with a Buss, Bussman or LittleFuse branded AGU 50 amp fuse.

Was it a gold fuse?  If so, you have fallen victim to the Bling Factor.  Hey let's make this inferior fuse and sell them.  How will we get them to buy them?  I know whe can make them Gold.  Yeah, good Idea, they'll buy that.

A 50 amp BUSS, Bussman, or LittleFuse branded fuse will fix your problem.

haha! i love that line!

yeah your right, it is gold (metal end caps of the fuse). that is what your talking about right, the gold part? i didnt know it was gold. it just came w/ a basic 4 gauge wiring kit. btw the wiring kit isnt a high end brand name but it gets the job done. i just think the fuse and fuse holder is kind of cheap. can i just buy a basic 50 amp fuse? their are some cheap ones on ebay. do you mind giving me a link?

If it is an actual Bussman fuse and you want to pay 3.22 for a fuse you can probably buy locally for 2.00 plus tax, then go for it.

ok,i had gotten a set of 12"MTX roadthunders, and 2 amps.1 MTX204 4 ch. and a lightning audio 250.1 amp.i got a walmart type amp install kit.i hooked the mtx amp up and speakers ,worked fine, decided to try the lightning audio out and it hit alot harder than the MTX.i turned it up a few times not for long just testing it out.i went to another song and the subs was not playing anymore.checked the amp the protection light was on,i touched it it wasnt even a little warm, unhooked it all starting with subs and rehooked  still the same.hooked the MTX back up worked fine.took apart the lightning audio and no burnt spots ,smells ,or anything to assume its blown..all fuses are good.there are 2 15 fuses in amp and 1 30 in power wire, what is it ..thanx in advance
