I have a 2003 dodge ram reg cab p/u.I currently run 2 3" tang band neodymium drivers in my dash, a set of mb quart fsa 216 6.5 components in my doors powered by a kenwood 500 watt 4 channel and 2 12" re audio subs powered by a memphis 500 watt monoblock. My system sounds really good and im happy with it, but modification is in my blood LOL. I am thinking about building some kick pods for my truck and ditching the tang bands for the amp power.I was thinking of running some more 6.5 in the kick panels but I wanted to get you r opinions first. What i am asking specifically is 1)Should I ditch the tang bands and build kickpods? 2)If i do kickpods what size speaker should i use ? I believe i can fit up to a 6x9 so any suggestions would be great thanks!!

1) What's your system design goal?  If it's SQ, you want to use only one main set of speakers.  You might consider installing a 3-way set with woofers in kicks and mids/tweets in the doors.  I'd get rid of all dash speakers if it was me unless maybe you use them as a center channel in a 5.1 setup.

2) 6.5" round speakers generally sound better and are more accurate than 6X9 speakers.

The 6.5 in your component set is a woofer, and it also provides the midrange.  If you add another woofer you'd also need to add a crossover at, oh, about 600Hz between it and the woofer in your comp set.  This will allow the comp woofer to provide more accurate midrange, and will if you use a more efficient woofer increase the bass in the front of the cabin.  Here's a great sounding option.

Do you have nay idea what hz crossover i would need? I cant find the hz range for just the mid in my comp set ,the only thing i found is that the crossover frequency range is 50 -32000 hz and it is 12db/4000hz crossover point. So im guessing the midrange is between 250- 4000hz?Do i put the speaker you recommended in the kickpanel?

Your FSA 216 component set is crossed over at 4000Hz from the woofer to the tweeter.  The woofer handles everything below 4000Hz.  If you add a second woofer you'd put it in the kick panel and devise a low pass filter for it at about 600Hz, and a high-pass filter for the component set at the same frequency.  This can be a basic first order 6db/octave filter... in fact at 4-ohms it would be a 1.1mh coil in series with the woofer and a 66uf non-polar crossover capacitor in series with the comp set input.

Parts express is one site.  Also try Madisound or MCM Electronics.  You may not find one cap the right size, you may have to use two or three in parallel to get to the total value you need.  Wiring caps in parallel adds their capacitance values (and it's often cheaper than buying one large cap.)
