I have a Alpine head unit and a Alpine MRP-F300 for my mids and highs.  If played at low volumes everything is fine.  But if I turn the volume up to a moderate level Iose my mids and highs.  At first I thought amp, but its warm not hot and the amp doesn't go into any kind of protection mode.  So now I'm thinking head unit.  I lose everything but bass.  Any suggestions?   Thanks.

Are the mids and highs connected to an amp or to the radio?  Did the owners manual of your radio suggest that you connect the yellow wire of the radio directly to the battery?

Have you checked voltage at the amp?  You must have it playing at the level just below in which it would cut off.  Black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp.  Red lead on the power terminal.  How low does the voltage drop?

That amp was cutting out on me when powering four sets of 6" components. I turned the HPF up a little and it quit. I switched brands soon after and havnt had any issue since.
This is what I do for FUN!
