recently acquired a new set of old diamond audio D9 components to replace my diamond Hex S600s components. i have a few questions and i need your opinions.
first, the install already needs to completely customized ad will involve cutting the sheet metal in my doors and more than likely reshaping my door panel. for the best sound quality should i mount the woofer on the outside of the door panel, exposed, and open to the cabin or should it be just as good to mount it under the door panel with a re shaped front with a hole and grill cloth covering the speaker. i really want them covered and hidden mainly because these were kinda pricy and extremely rare and i dont want them damaged. but at the same time, i want maximum sound quality.
next, since i will be cutting into my door anyway, should i sink an enclosure into the door for the mid woofer? i can cut a pattern out of my door and build a shape to fit into it without messing with my windows of anything else. its going into the doors of a 01 ford ranger with no power locks or windows. this is also the other reason i really want them mounted behind the door panel. this enclosure could possibly be as large as maybe .3ft^3 which is a rough estimate because i havent really measured yet. and this is probably a stupid question but i figured id ask, if i build an enclosure, sealed or ported? not saying im impressed with them but ive seen a lot or factory premium systems with ported enclosures in the doors and they sounded decent even with garbage speakers so i was just curious?
any ideas or thoughts are appreciated
