Hey all, I have searched a little and can only find threads from 2004 and 2005 regarding subwoofers more for sound quality. I am looking for a 10" sub that sounds good. I dont want to get too crazy with high pricing, it all depends. I have gotten out of the stage of blowing windows off the car next to you. I want something that sounds great in my car and may be a little loud. Any suggestions? JL, MB, Mmats?
thanks!

TCSounds Epic 10". Find them here...
Awesome sub. Simply "Epic"... LOL I know, sarcasm. But really. VERY nice sub, and they won't break the bank.

1: Is that a comment or a question, because, yes, I have heard of them.
2: ...and?
Just because you've never heard of them, does that make them bad? I assure you, in this price range there is VERY precious little that will even come close to the performance capability of these woofers, in both output AND sound quality.
Thilo Stompler has been OEMing drivers for many manufacturers for years. MOST notably, ever hear of the Eclipse Ti series of woofers? Right out of the TCSounds factory in San Diego, California... First, I can assure you they are EXCELLENT drivers, and secondly I would never recommend ANYTHING that I wouldn't use in a system of my own.
While they are not an SPL woofer in the strictest sense of the description, they ARE in every sense of the word, an audiophile woofer, as you asked for.

no i am not saying that since i have not heard of them, then they are bad.
my comment was that i havent heard of them and i would like more input and info on them. my mistake for not saying so instead i wrote a question mark. i have not heard of that company so i do not know where to buy that brand nor what prices are good for them. yes i want SQ over loudness, like i stated in my original post. thanks, i will try and research some more.
anyone else???

Order them online. Parts-express.com. The link I offered in my original post takes you right to the page for the product.
As far as the amplifier... How much did you want to spend? I can offer up anything from 50 bucks for a "3000 watts peak" Boss POS with a 10A fuse in the end of it, all the way to MANY more hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars for Zapco or similar, but you'll get real power, not inflated hype...
Right down the middle of that range, and speaking from experience, an Alpine PDX1.1000 will drive a pair of those with AMAZING efficiency, and sound spectacular doing it. Another nice feature with this option is the size. Tiny amp, tiny boxes, excellent results.
If only needing one woofer, then go with the PDX1.600. Still perfect. If you go with a fully amplified system, the PDX5 will run the woofer and the full system all from one chassis.

i know you gotta pay to play, but its also for a Corolla.  So something of good quality, but dont need 3000 watts lol. at least i dont think i do.  I want a good, high quality 10" for the car.  I want to get all tones of the bass, not just the loudness.  I would like to keep as much space as I can in the trunk, and I know the JL W7 series needs a lot of air space.  what about that TC?  Same goes for that?

I will eventually upgrade the mids and highs inside, or if i can find a good price then i would do it all at once.  does it make a difference running one amp for everything versus two amps?

Small, and good sounding...
The TC 10 will work in a small .5 cube sealed enclosure, and the PDX1.600 will drive it all day long, with PLENTY of output.
IMO... a perfect combination for you.
Actually, your thread has made me think I might be re-engineering my trunk...
