I have just recently purchased 6.5 inch polk audio 6501 component speakers for the front of my Subaru impreza WRX and polk audio 5.25 inch DB521 coaxial speakers for the back of my car powered by a 4 channel MRP-300 alpine amplifier. I also have a pioneer DEH-4300UB stereo deck. So i used the 9 wire speed cable and hooked it to the back of my harness and had the other end hooked to the amplifier, and i made sure all the crimps were snug and what not, but the sound it just horrible. I can hear the instrustments but can barely hear the voice of the singer. I dont know if its the polarity or whats going on. Someone please help! Thanks in advance!

it sounds like maybe you used the woofer outputs as inputs on your speaker crossover.

the radio dont have some silly karaoke mode does it?

If you start the engine, can you hear it through the speakers?

for my woofer all i did was run the wire that they gave me with the speakers to the cross over and the wire from the tweeter to the crossover and then ran speaker wire from the 9 speed wire to the crossover. And to tell you the truth i havent really tried to run the car while the speakers are playing but i dont know why that would make a difference.

well i ran the wire that came with the speakers from the woofer to the crossover and the tweeter wire from the tweeter to the crossover and then i ran speaker wire from the 9 speed wire to the crossover as well but it just sounds like crap. I honestly havent turned on the car at the same time as the speakers but i dont know why it would make a difference in the sound. thanks in advance!

have you played with the settings on the pioneer? maybe a different eq setting would sound better. check to make sure your crossover on the amp is set to HPF not LPF

Everything is set to how you said so I have no idea and it's really irritating me. Could it be the polarity?

I think I know the answer to the question, and I think I know the solution to your problem.  But I need only one thing from you.

so you bridged the alpine to run this pair of speakers or is there more to this system than what you are telling us?

which outputs run from the pio to the alp?

you did disconnect the speaker outputs on the back of the radio from the speakers right? the alpine amp should be the only thing connected to your speakers.
