i got a 98 lincoln mark viii and its a "unibody" car. i cant figure out how the engine is grounded to chasis. Can someone help me? i found where the battery ground goes to engine block but i dont know where to put the additional wire at. ive done it in my truck and for several friends but im stumped withj my mark viii and help or suggustions would be greatly appreciated

Is the chassis wire direct from the batt- terminal?
That's not uncommon, tho hopefully Jeep's practice of using a self tapper screw for the chassis/body isn't.
For chassis/body to engine/gearbox I cable 2 or 4 appropriately positioned threaded bolts.

theres a small (16 gauge maybe) going to the chasis from the battery - that is connected by radiator and then theres a 4ga going to the engine down by oil draIN area i seen those small ground wires on 70z oldsmobiles but they still had braided wire from engine to firewall but im not seeing that in my lincoln theres 130amp alternator so i would assume they wouldve had good electrical wiring

NEVER EVER assume. Even if it is an OEM set up.
That's be like my assumption that any vehicles after 1960 would NOT use self tapping screws for a critical ground (as per my neigbor's 1996 Jeep).
And 16G? I might accept 4G, but 16G won;t handle the alternator output let alone what the battery can supply.
BTW - that Jeep uses something small like an 8G or 4G battery-chassis GND, but I didn't check for additional interconnects.

i left the 16 and added a 2/0 welding cable from battery - to chasis but i still need engine block to chasis can i just go from same chasis ground i added to engine block with a 2/0/ and leave alternator wire alone

Yep, that's fine.
You say 'alternator wire'. If you mean its GND, that could be engine block or gearbox to battery- or block/gearbox to chassis.
If you mean the alternator's 'heavy' +12V output aka B or B+, that usually goes straight to the battery - maybe via a fuse.
That should have been sized for the alternator - eg 4G.
