Amp problems?

just hooked up an amp and a set of 10's and know i got a continious pounding through the subs.  When i turn the amp up the beat gets faster when i turn it down it gets slower.  any ideas?

Sounds like a bad ground loop.  Make sure your amp is properly grounded to the chassis of the car.  Make sure the head unit is properly grounded as well.  Make sure your RCA cables between the HU and the amp are in good condition, not broken anywhere and properly connected.
